1:72 Avia S-199 / CS-199 is a Peewit masking set for a model of the postwar Czechoslovak fighter: an accessory for painting, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set from the Czech manufacturer Peewit in 1:72 scale, intended for models of the postwar Czechoslovak fighter Avia S-199 and of its two-seat trainer version, the CS-199. It is not a kit but a set of pre-cut templates that cover, during spraying, the areas that are to stay free of paint. The long business of cutting masks out of masking tape is thus done away with.
The Avia S-199 came about after the war in Czechoslovak works by combining the airframe of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter with a Junkers Jumo 211 engine, originally intended for bombers. The combination led to a massive propeller, strong torque and unpleasant behavior on take-off and landing, for which the machine earned the nickname Mezek, meaning mule. The two-seat CS-199 variant served for training and differs from the single-seat form above all in a lengthened cabin divided differently.
Peewit offers more than one masking set for this type, differing in extent, from the frames of the glazing through the wheels to covering the landing gear bays. So choose by the exact designation of the set and by what you need to mask on the model. The usual rules apply to the work: a degreased surface, pressing the mask down with a soft tool, thin coats of paint and taking them off in good time. With the landing gear bays it is also good to check that the covering fits once the gear legs are glued in.
This is an accessory for a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
