A set of machine die-cut kabuki tape masks for a 1:48 model of the F-16 fighter in the A and C versions. ADVANCED is the level of the set and it sets the coverage: for this subject the manufacturer offers several levels, from basic through middle to the widest, and on top of that a separate set of masks for the exhaust nozzles. ADVANCED stands between the basic and the widest coverage. The level is the only detail that tells otherwise identically named items apart, so keep an eye on it when choosing. The exact list of parts is not stated here. The set is cut for the parts of the Hasegawa kit, and on a model from another manufacturer the shapes may not agree.
The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine multirole fighter with a distinctive bubble canopy without a windshield frame and an air intake under the fuselage. The one-piece canopy is what matters for masking: it has almost no dividing frames, so the paint edge has to sit exactly where the glass meets the fuselage. The A and C versions differ in equipment and airframe details, yet both stay close in their basic shapes.
Keep the clear part clean and simply rinse it in lukewarm water before masking. Line the mask up with the transition from glass to frame and press it down firmly around the edge. Lay the paint on in thin coats; on a large one-piece canopy it is worth the effort to only hint at the first pass and let it dry. Spray the frame with the interior color before the outer shade. Remove the mask shortly after it has dried, at a shallow angle. For the large fuselage areas outside the die-cut parts use ordinary masking tape.
The masks are a painting aid. The kit and the paints are not included in the package.
