B-26K Counter Invader (early version) BASIC kabuki masks, 1:48 are pre-cut New Ware masking parts for the ICM kit. An accessory to a model, not the kit itself.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut kabuki masks for a 1:48 model of the B-26K Counter Invader from the manufacturer ICM. The wording in the name points to the early version of the subject, so the set belongs with the matching release of the kit. BASIC is the basic level of the range, and New Ware runs the same set in an EXPERT level as well, which is more extensive. It is not an aircraft model but a masking accessory to one.
The B-26K Counter Invader came about when On Mark Engineering rebuilt the older Douglas A-26 Invader attack aircraft for counter-insurgency operations. The rebuild brought a strengthened structure, more powerful piston engines, a larger vertical tail and wingtip tanks. The machines served with the US Air Force in the 1960s and 1970s, mostly in Southeast Asia. The early and the late version differ in details of armament and equipment.
The parts are die-cut on a carrier film. Lift them with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers, transfer them to a clean, degreased surface and press the edges down with a toothpick. Spray the paint in thin coats and at lower pressure so that it does not run under the edge. On the cockpit glazing it is worth laying the interior color first and only then the outer shade. Lift the mask off shortly after it has dried, while the layer is flexible, and pull it at an angle to the surface. On a twin-engine aircraft with extensive glazing it helps to mask in stages and keep track of the order of the colors.
This is a masking accessory, not a kit. The aircraft model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
