A set of pre-cut kabuki masks for a 1:48 model of the B-26K Counter Invader from the manufacturer ICM. The wording in the name points to the early version of the subject. EXPERT is the higher of the pair of levels in which New Ware runs the set, the other one being the basic BASIC. The level sets the range of masking. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory to one.
The B-26K Counter Invader came about when On Mark Engineering rebuilt the older Douglas A-26 Invader attack aircraft for counter-insurgency operations. The machine received a strengthened structure, more powerful piston engines, a larger vertical tail and wingtip tanks. It served with the US Air Force in the 1960s and 1970s, mostly in Southeast Asia. The early and the late version differ in details of armament and equipment.
The parts are die-cut on a carrier film. Lift them with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers, lay them on a clean, degreased surface and press the edges down firmly with a toothpick. Apply the paint in thin coats at lower pressure so that it does not run under the edge. On the cockpit glazing lay the interior color first, then the outer shade. Lift the mask off shortly after it has dried, while the paint is flexible, and at an angle to the surface. With more extensive masking, plan the order of the steps in advance so that you do not uncover and cover the same area twice.
This is a masking accessory, not a kit. The aircraft model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
