A riveting set from HGW for models of the Japanese fighter A6M3 Zero (the Hamp version) in 1:72 scale. These are positive, that is, raised rivet decals, which are applied to the surface of a model and give it a fine but tangible rivet texture. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for raising the realism. The set is designed for the Tamiya kit.
The set does away with the laborious punching or engraving of rivets by hand. The decals follow the layout of the rivets on the real aircraft exactly and, once dry, create tiny raised points on smooth plastic. After paint has been sprayed over them and the surface polished, the rivets show through faintly and play the light across the surfaces of the model.
The decals are applied to a finished, smoothly sanded surface under the paint. Work in smaller areas, seat the decal, let it dry and then spray the whole model. Once it is varnished, polish the surface gently so that the rivets stand out. Work with plenty of water and a soft brush.
This is an accessory, not a stand-alone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
