Black Dog 1:32 USAAF fighter pilot 1940 to 1945, number 3, is a resin figure for the large scale that will give a finished model of an aircraft scale as well as a story.

The figure from Black Dog belongs to the numbered line of pilots of the US Army Air Forces for the large 1:32 scale. The individual numbers differ from each other in the pose and the treatment of the figure, so they can be combined and a little group set up beside an aircraft in which no one repeats. This item is the third of the line. The resin casting holds the sharp edges of the folds of the clothing and the fine detail of the face and the hands, which injected plastic falls short of at this size.
A model of a large fighter in 1:32 scale does not say by itself how big it was. A figure beside the wing or in the cockpit solves that immediately: the viewer has a comparison and the scene is given a direction of view. The equipment of a fighter pilot of that time, that is a flying suit or a jacket, a life vest, straps, a helmet with goggles and an oxygen mask, offers at the same time areas that are rewarding in color: leather, fabric and rubber each have a different surface and can be told apart by the sheen alone.
Separate the figure from the casting block with a saw, sand the mold seams down and then wash the casting in warm water with a detergent so that the release agent from the mold disappears. The parts are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and gaps can be closed with a drop of glue and a little sanding dust. The basis is a thin coat of undercoat, on which it shows at once where sanding is still needed. In 1:32 scale it pays to paint in layers: the base tone, a darker shadow in the folds, a lighter one dry along the edges. Do the face at the very end and at your ease, because it is precisely the face that decides whether the figure works.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the model of the aircraft are not included in the package.
