A set of masking shapes from the SX-Art brand prepared for a model of the French AMX-30B2 Brennus tank in 1:35. It is not a kit, nor parts of a model, but an add-on for painting: precisely cut masks take the place of taping by hand and cutting with a knife. Which particular surfaces the set masks is stated on the box.
The AMX-30 was the main battle tank of the French army, built on the concept of a lighter and faster vehicle with thinner armor. The B2 pattern meant an upgrade of the fire control system and the powertrain. The Brennus program followed on from it in the 1990s and added above all add-on armor on the turret and the hull front, which changes the silhouette of the vehicle and its breakdown into colored areas markedly.
French vehicles of that time wore a three-color camouflage in the style of the Western standard of the day, that is green, brown and black in irregular fields with a sharp edge. That is exactly a job for masks: spray a continuous base in the lightest shade, then mask step by step and add the darker colors. Lay the mask on a perfectly dry coat, press the edges down with a toothpick and spray thinly in two passes. Watch the broken-up add-on armor especially, as a mask likes to lift on the edges of the blocks. The decals, the clear coat and the weathering come at the end.
The set is not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
