Vision blocks, periscope heads and cover glass are among the places on a model of an armored vehicle that give the scale away most. A plastic part is as a rule flat, and once painted all that is left of it is a gray face, whereas a real vision block has depth, reflects light and changes color with the angle of view. This set offers replacement items that restore that difference on a model.
The set contains imitations of vision blocks and optics for the Zvezda kit in 1:35. The parts are seated into the places of the original plastic parts, or glued onto the surface once those are removed; at some positions the seat needs to be carefully deepened, so that an item sits flush with its surroundings. The exact number of items and their layout is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Try the parts dry first and only then glue them. Apply the glue at a point and only where it will not show; for gluing clear parts a glue for clear items is suitable, because the fumes of cyanoacrylate glue are able to haze a glossy surface. Fit the items only at the end of the build, after the vehicle has been sprayed and dirtied, or you will cover them with paint and pigment. The surroundings of a vision block can take heavy soiling, but the optics themselves stay relatively clean, because they get wiped; it is exactly that contrast that makes the result convincing.
The set of imitations alone is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
