1:35 KV-1 mantlet with the F-32 gun is a turned barrel with the gun mantlet of the turret for a model of the Soviet heavy tank KV-1 in 1:35 from the maker PANZER ART. It is an add-on to a plastic kit, not a tank model.

An add-on from the line of turned barrels and turret mantlets, it replaces on a kit of the Soviet heavy tank KV-1 the two parts on which the quality of a finished model shows fastest: the muzzle of the gun and the mantlet of the turret around it. A turned barrel has a perfectly round cross section and a bore, so sanding a mold seam line down and drilling the muzzle both fall away. This is not a tank kit — the base model has to be obtained separately.
The KV-1 was a Soviet heavy tank of the Second World War that in the first years of the conflict stood out for its heavy armor. Its armament changed during production: after the initial 76.2 mm gun of the L-11 type came the F-32 gun of the same caliber and later the ZiS-5 type. Each of those versions had the mantlet of the turret worked out differently, and it is exactly the shape of the mantlet that is the main guide by which the individual production batches are told apart on a model.
Cut the original plastic part of the mantlet off and level the mating surface with a file or sandpaper, so that the new mantlet sits without a gap. Wash the resin parts in warm water with dish soap before gluing and degrease the metal barrel; glue with super glue, with metal to advantage with the thicker gel kind. Both metal and resin need a primer, or the shade holds badly. Leave the muzzle of the barrel dark and matte, while the front of the mantlet on the contrary takes a fine dry brush to bring the edges and the wear out.
The add-on is supplied unpainted and without a base kit. Glue, paints and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
