A detail set from PANZER ART for a model of the German heavy tank Pz.Kpfw. VI Tiger I in 1:35 scale. It contains a turned metal gun barrel of 88 mm caliber with the late type of muzzle brake and a resin final mantlet matching late production. It is an aftermarket accessory for plastic models of the Tiger I, not a kit of the tank itself.
The late Tiger I differed from the earlier machines in a number of details, among them a modified type of muzzle brake for the 8.8 cm KwK36 gun and the final version of the turret mantlet. It is precisely these elements that are key to recognizing the production period, and rendering them faithfully markedly raises the authenticity of a finished model.
Before building, wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove any mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a knife and clean the surfaces up with abrasive paper, with respiratory protection. Glue resin with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). A turned metal barrel has a perfectly straight axis with no casting seams and a muzzle drilled to depth, so once painted it looks more realistic than a barrel in plastic. Before filler and paint, we recommend seating the parts dry and checking that the mantlet beds correctly into the opening in the turret of the base model. The set is intended for the Tiger I of late production, so check that the late muzzle brake matches the variant you are building.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The tank model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
