An accessory from the Polish manufacturer PANZER ART for the American M4 Sherman medium tank with the 75 mm armament in 1:35 scale. It replaces the gun mantlet together with the M3 gun in the version matching early production. The mantlet of the Sherman changed several times during production and is one of the quickest ways to tell the production period of a machine on a model.
The 75 mm M3 gun was the basic armament of most Shermans. It was not an anti-armor specialist but a universal weapon that fired high-explosive rounds well against infantry and fortifications while still coping with lighter armored vehicles. Early vehicles had a narrower mantlet; the later version was wider and offered better protection for the turret front.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surfaces. Try the fit in the turret dry and only then bond with super glue. A cast mantlet has a marked texture, which you bring out with a dark wash and dry brushing; the contrast between the rough mantlet and the smooth barrel is exactly what makes the result convincing.
