1:35 Pz.Kpfw. V Panther II turret mantlet with the KwK 42 gun is a turned barrel with a turret shield for the 1:35 model of the German Panther II tank from PANZER ART. An accessory to a plastic kit, not a tank model.

The set replaces the turret shield and the long 7.5 cm barrel on a Panther II kit. The turned barrel part has a straight axis, a round section and an open muzzle, and with an L/70 gun that is a difference you can see from a meter away. This is not a tank kit, the base model is bought separately.
The Panther II was a development proposal following on from the production Pz.Kpfw. V Panther. It was to share components with the heavy types, thicken the armor and carry a narrower turret with a 7.5 cm gun with a long KwK 42 barrel. The project never reached production, but among modelers it is popular as a technical study and as a rewarding subject for what are known as paper projects. The turret with its narrow shield is its most distinctive feature.
Cut the original plastic mantlet away and level the mating surface. Wash the resin parts in warm water with dish soap, degrease the metal barrel with alcohol and glue it with super glue; on a long barrel watch the alignment of the axis in both planes. After priming, a late three-color scheme sprayed with an airbrush suggests itself, or a single-color base with the shield edges strongly picked out. Leave the muzzle a matte dark tone.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without the base kit. Glue, paints and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
