StuG III Ausf. G assault guns were given a rounded barrel mantlet during production, for which the name Topfblende came into use. Later examples had an additional opening in this mantlet for the coaxial machine gun, and that is exactly what sets this set apart from the basic variant: the letters MG in the name refer to that opening. The set offers the mantlet together with the barrel of the 7.5 cm gun in the variant with the early muzzle brake.
A replacement barrel with the mantlet in 1:35 scale for a kit of the assault gun. The barrel is turned, so it has no lengthwise joint of the kind that is filled and sanded on a split plastic barrel, and the muzzle is drilled. The exact number of parts, and the kit the manufacturer aimed at, are given in the enclosed instructions.
Try the part dry and carefully widen the opening in the front wall of the superstructure if needed. Use super glue; plastic cement does not hold here. Wash, degrease and apply an undercoat before painting. Before you fit the set, check against photographs whether your vehicle had the machine gun in the mantlet or on a roof mount; both occurred on the G version and a mix-up is easy to see.
For builders of later StuG III vehicles who want an accurate mantlet and a barrel with no gap. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
