Responsibility details are not available.
A resin replacement for the wheels of a model of the British Fordson WOT 6 truck, made after Avon tires. The manufacturer offers these wheels in several forms according to the tire supplier, so the tread pattern can be matched to a period photograph of a particular vehicle. This package is the version with an Avon tread. It is an accessory, not a kit, and the model of the vehicle has to be obtained separately.
The Fordson WOT 6 was a British military truck with all-wheel drive, built as the standard three-ton carrier in the time of the Second World War. Its off-road ability and simple design made it a widespread supply truck that appeared with many bodies. The vehicles were given tires from various suppliers, so the tread patterns differ in surviving photographs, and for a modeler it is one of the few ways to place a vehicle even more precisely.
Wash the wheels in lukewarm water with dish soap, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the mating surface wet, so that the wheel stands square to the axis. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a filler primer before painting, as without one the paint holds poorly on resin. Mix the tire toward a dark gray with a cast of brown, as pure black looks unconvincing. Spray the rim in the shade of the vehicle and pull the edge between rubber and metal sharply. Finally add dust and mud, as dirty wheels are a matter of course on a supply truck.
This is an accessory to a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
