A resin set of road wheels for a model of the American M4 Sherman medium tank in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of the vehicle — they are castings meant to be swapped for the wheels from a plastic kit. The manufacturer offers Sherman wheels in several numbered patterns, because more than one form of disc was used on this type during the war; this set is pattern number one. The form for the horizontal spring suspension is offered by the manufacturer as a separate item.
The Sherman is the most widespread American medium tank of the Second World War and its running gear is among the most clearly visible parts of a model. That is exactly why the various wheel patterns became a substantial topic for modelers: the mix of discs on one vehicle was not uniform, and a well chosen pattern makes it possible to build a particular machine instead of a generic type. Cast parts also keep a sharp drawing of the rim and the holes even where an injection mold needs draft angles.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap, as otherwise the paint will peel off the release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, level the mating surfaces on abrasive paper on a flat board and sand wet with your breathing protected. Glue with super glue and always try the fit dry first, ideally with the track as well — on running gear every deviation shows up in how the track seats. Paint the rubber tires dark gray with a cast of brown, never pure black, and unify the disc with the shade of the vehicle. Bring out the hollows and holes with a dark wash, suggest the bearing faces with rubbed dark metallic pigment and dust the lower areas to match the ground in which you set the model.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and neither the model of the tank nor the tracks are part of the package. Glue, paints and other accessories are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
