This item is a resin accessory, not a kit of the vehicle. It holds idler wheels, that is the rear wheels of the track assembly, for the American M4 Sherman medium tank in 1:35 scale. They serve to be swapped for the matching plastic parts of the base kit. The maker PANZER ART specializes in cast accessories for armored vehicles. The serial designation No. 1 is a distinguishing detail, so the set matches one particular type of idler wheel out of the several that Shermans used.
The idler wheel sits at the rear end of the running gear and keeps the track at the right tension. On the M4 Sherman several forms appeared: solid cast wheels, wheels with cutouts and later types with a differently worked disc. Which type a vehicle carried depended on the maker, the batch and on what was available in the field during a repair. For a modeler it is a small part with a large visual effect, because it is clearly visible from the side on a model and reveals at once how carefully the build was carried out.
Wash the castings in warm water with dish soap first because of release agent residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and sand the surfaces with your airways protected. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Glue the idler wheel on only after a dry test with the track, so that the sag of the track matches reality; with metal or link tracks it is advisable to keep the possibility of a small shift. Paint over a primer, set the rubber parts apart with a dark shade, bring out the edges with a dry brush and work the lower part with dust and mud effects.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
