The resin set of road wheels from PANZER ART is meant for building the British Chieftain main battle tank in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of the tank, but an accessory replacing the wheels from a plastic kit. On a tank model the running gear is visible from the side along its whole length, so inaccuracies and traces of a mold parting line show up on it most.
The Chieftain was a British main battle tank of the Cold War that took the place of the previous generation and was marked out by a steeply sloped front armor and a reclining position for the driver. It carried a large caliber gun and its running gear consisted of a row of paired wheels with rubber tires. Those wore down and got dirty in service, so in period photographs they almost never look fresh from the factory. A faithful rendering of the wheels therefore decides the overall impression of a model more than might be expected.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap and rid them of release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw, level the mating surfaces by sanding wet and with your airways protected. Resin is glued with super glue. Glue the wheels on only after a dry check, so that they all sit in one plane, as otherwise the track will not bear properly. After the primer, paint the rubber tires dark gray and the discs in the shade of the vehicle, and finish the transition with a fine brush. At the end add dust and bring out the wear of the tires, and oil stains around the hubs if you like.
The accessory is supplied unpainted, as resin castings. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
