A set of resin wheels for a model of the American M1083 tactical truck of the FMTV family in 1:35 scale, made with the tread of Goodyear tires. It is not a kit of the vehicle but an accessory with which the plastic wheels from the box are replaced. Besides the tread, the discs are cast as well, so the set sorts out the whole visually most exposed feature of the vehicle at once.
The M1083 is the medium three-axle member of the American FMTV family of tactical trucks. The vehicle with all-wheel drive serves to carry cargo and troops and carries a wide range of bodies; it shares the cab and a number of assemblies with the lighter two-axle version. Tall off-road tires with a pressure system that can be adjusted on the move are characteristic of these vehicles and their tread differs according to the supplier. That is exactly why replacement wheels come about in variants by tire maker — this one matches the Goodyear pattern and is an alternative to the form with the Michelin tread.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap, cut the casting blocks off with a fine-bladed saw and level the surfaces with a file so that the round outline of the tread is kept. Sand with your airways protected, glue with super glue and apply a primer before painting. Paint the tire in a gray-black shade, spray the disc separately and bring out the transition between rubber and disc with a dark wash. After the matte varnish, add dust pigments on the sidewall and heavier mud in the tread and at the contact face. The effect works best when the degree of dusting is the same on all the wheels and on the bottom of the frame.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
