On models of armored vehicles the road wheels are among the most visible parts and at the same time among those where injection-molded plastic runs into its limits - the pressings of the discs, the rims and the bolt heads tend to be simplified and a mold parting line runs across the middle of the disc. A resin casting allows a crisper surface without the need to clean that line up. The set is used as a direct replacement for the wheels from the original kit.
The M60 was an American medium and later main battle tank introduced at the start of the 1960s and built in a series of versions from the M60A1 to the M60A3. The Israeli ground forces operated machines of this family under the designation Magach 6 and gradually reworked them with their own changes to the equipment and the armor. The suspension with six road wheels on each side remained a feature common to the whole family.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap so that remains of the mold release agent are removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw rather than nipping them, as resin is brittle. It is best to sand wet and with respiratory protection. Use super glue (cyanoacrylate) for gluing, because ordinary polystyrene cement will not bond resin. Apply a primer before painting. It is practical to spray the wheels before they go onto the suspension; the rubber tires are then picked out with a brush or a mask. Close out the dust and mud on the wheels only after the tracks are glued on, so that the transition between the tread and the suspension looks of a piece.
This is not a model on its own but an accessory for a plastic kit. The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
