A resin accessory in 1:35 scale from ELEFANT: a wooden box for the late versions of the Pz.Kpfw III tank in the shape designated as type 4. Cast resin holds a crisper pattern of planks and ironwork than injection-molded plastic, so on the model the box comes across as a separate piece of equipment. It is not a kit of the vehicle but a detail added to a model under construction or already finished, or placed loose in a diorama.
The Pz.Kpfw III was a German medium tank of the Second World War. The Ausf. L and M versions carried a 5 cm gun with a barrel 60 calibers long, the Ausf. N version a short 7.5 cm gun intended for fire support of the infantry. Vehicles of these batches received additional armor plates and later side and turret skirts as well. The crew's materiel was carried in boxes and crates on the fenders, on the hull and at the rear. It is precisely such small things that tell two otherwise identical vehicles apart and give a model its individuality.
First wash the resin casting in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap so that remains of the mold release agent are removed and the paint holds. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a thin cutting disc and sand the area; sand resin wet and protect your breathing, as the dust is fine. It is glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate), ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on resin. Apply a primer before painting. The wood texture looks best when you lay oil paints or a glaze over a lighter base, bring the texture out with a dark wash and lift the edges with a dry brush.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
