A resin add-on set in 1:35 scale from ELEFANT. It is not a kit of a vehicle but small castings of covers for the launchers of S-mine antipersonnel mines, of the kind fitted to German tanks of the Second World War. According to the name the package holds two versions and the scope is enough for eight vehicles, so the set will cover even a larger diorama or several models at once.
The S-mine launchers served for the close defense of a tank against infantry that had come right up to the hull and out of reach of the gun and the machine guns. The device was placed on the upper surface of the hull and its mouth was closed by a cover when it was not in use. In photographs these small covers are clearly discernible and on models they belong among the details that plastic kits either simplify or leave out altogether. German vehicles later received a traversable close-defense weapon in the turret roof and the launchers on the hull disappeared from the equipment.
First wash the small castings in lukewarm water with dish soap because of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a sharp scalpel or a fine saw over a support and ideally over a bowl - small parts like to jump away. Dress the remainder with a fine file and do the sanding wet or with a respirator. It is glued with super glue, cement for plastic will not bond resin. Apply a primer before painting and paint the covers together with the hull; a fine wash will then bring out their outline and a light rub of a metallic shade on the edge will suggest that they have been handled.
The set is an accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
