A plastic kit of the Hungarian tank destroyer Toldi Pancelvadasz in 1:72 scale from the Polish brand IBG models. It is a less known subject from the field of Hungarian armored equipment of the Second World War which, in this scale, completes a wider line of Toldi vehicles. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The light tank Toldi was the backbone of Hungarian armored equipment at the end of the 1930s and the beginning of the 1940s. It was derived from a Swedish design taken over under license and in Hungarian production it went through several versions differing in armor and armament. As the armor protection of the enemy tanks grew, the original armament stopped being enough and attempts arose to build a vehicle able to destroy tanks on the proven chassis. The Toldi Pancelvadasz, that is, the tank destroyer, is exactly such a conversion: a more powerful gun in an open superstructure on the chassis of a light tank. The vehicle remained a matter of a very small number of pieces and never saw wider use, but it belongs among the characteristic examples of how smaller armies helped themselves with improvisation of their own.
A model in 1:72 scale has small parts, so a sharp knife, tweezers and a thin cement applied with a small brush pay off. First finish the running gear and the lower part of the hull and let them cure on a flat mat. The open fighting superstructure is open to view, so paint whatever stays visible in it before you close it in with the surrounding walls. Work through a primer, spray the camouflage with an airbrush and lighten the edges gently, so that the model does not look flat in a small scale. At the end add a dark wash into the seams and dry pigments around the running gear.
