1:48 Su-27 UB Ukrainian digital camouflage decal sheet

Decals for the Su-27UB in digital camouflage, 1:48 scale, HAD models

This is a standalone decal set, not a kit. The sheet is intended for marking a model of the two-seat Su-27UB in 1:48 scale in the scheme of digital, that is, pixel camouflage, which the Ukrainian Air Force uses on its Su-27s. The base model, paints and glue are not included in the package. The exact extent of the sheet and the number of machines offered are not stated here, so you will find them only in the instructions enclosed with the set.

The real subject

The Su-27UB is the two-seat combat trainer version of the heavy twin-engine Su-27 fighter aircraft. Its cockpits are arranged one behind the other, the rear seat is raised for the sake of the view, and the machine keeps most of the equipment and the armament of the single-seat variant. The digital camouflage scheme with sharp edges to the fields of color replaced the earlier soft transitions of shade, and on a model it comes across markedly differently from the older schemes.

How to apply the decals

Wet decals hold best on a smooth glossy base, so varnish the place under the decal with a gloss varnish. Immerse the cut-out motif for a few seconds in lukewarm water, let it rest until the backing comes loose, and slide the decal onto the dampened surface. Settling it into the engraved lines and across the riveting is helped by a softener, which however has to be dosed carefully, and once it is applied the decal must not be moved any more. Once it is dry, wipe the remains of the adhesive off with a damp cloth and seal the whole surface with a matte or satin varnish, so that the glossy edge of the film disappears.

Who the set is for

• Modelers who want to build a Ukrainian Su-27UB in digital camouflage.
• Those for whom the decals in the base kit are not enough or have already yellowed.
• Builders who combine one kit with several marking variants.
• Collectors of models of modern combat aircraft in 1:48 scale.

This is a supplementary set of decals, not a model of an airplane. The kit, paints, varnishes and the softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
