This is a clip-together brick kit from the Polish maker COBI. The hull, the superstructures, the gun turrets and the deck fittings are assembled from shaped bricks and additional parts that are joined by clicking them together; the details are handled by printing on selected parts. The model is therefore complete right after assembly. The Executive Edition designation is a collector form from the maker. Given the subject, this is a larger kit, so count on that when choosing a place in your cabinet.
Tirpitz was a battleship of the Bismarck class, that is the sister ship of the unit the class is named after. She entered service at the beginning of the 1940s and spent most of her active life in the Norwegian fjords, from where she acted above all as a permanent threat to the convoy routes. The characteristic elements of her silhouette are the four twin turrets of the main battery placed two forward and two aft, the massive command superstructure and the extensive anti-aircraft armament. The ship was sunk by an air attack at the close of 1944.
With a long hull the key thing is to build calmly and in sections: push the joints fully home, because a part that is not pushed home in the middle of the hull will leave the finished model slightly bowed, and that will show on a shelf. Line the superstructures and the turrets up in advance according to the instructions, so that they sit on the axis of the ship. Place printed parts with regard to the orientation of the print. The finished model carries its own weight, but when carrying it support it under the hull in two places rather than by the superstructures.
The kit is supplied unassembled. Once assembled, the model is finished and ready to be displayed.
