A masking set in kabuki tape in 1:72 scale for a model of the A-1H/J Skyraider attack aircraft, in the extended form designated EXPERT.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas A-1 Skyraider was a single-engine piston attack aircraft with long endurance over the battlefield and a large load capacity for external stores. The A-1H and A-1J versions belong to the single-seat forms, which became best known for their service over Southeast Asia. It is to those two versions that the set is tied by its name.
The pieces are cut from kabuki tape, that is from a fine paper masking tape. It adapts well to the curves of glazing, holds on the edge of a frame and leaves a clean transition once removed. The EXPERT designation distinguishes this form from the BASIC variant, which the supplier lists under a separate code.
Stick the masks on before spraying, onto a degreased and dry surface. Transfer the pieces with tweezers or the tip of a knife, do not touch the adhesive side with your fingers and press the edge down with a toothpick all round. Apply the paint in thin coats; a heavy spray readily creeps under the edge. Take them off shortly after the paint has dried, while the coat has not yet gone brittle.
It suits a build in a small scale, where masking the frames by hand is especially slow and inaccurate. The kit whose shapes the masks are cut for is given in the manufacturer's instructions, so offer a piece up to the part dry before sticking it down.
The package contains masking pieces. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
