A plastic kit of a flying saucer from the American brand Atlantis, connected with the character of Vic Torry. It is a model for a display case with a markedly retro flavor, not a technically accurate replica of an existing machine. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Flying saucers belong among the most characteristic motifs of the popular fantasy of the middle of the twentieth century. The simple disc shape became shorthand for a visit from another world and is a rewarding theme to this day for modelers who collect fantasy more for the atmosphere than for technical data. This model belongs to that family of themes.
With disc shapes the key thing is to master the joint around the circumference: glue the parts with thin cement for plastic, fill the seam and sand it over carefully in several steps, because on a smooth gloss surface every unevenness shows. A base coat reveals imperfections before you set about the final shade. A metal look succeeds best with sprayed metallic paints over a smooth, well sanded base, applied only at the end. If the set contains clear parts, mask them before painting and glue them with glue for clear parts.
