The real subject

The Su-27UB is the two-seat combat trainer version of the Su-27 heavy fighter. The second seat is set behind the first and higher, so the instructor has a view forward, and because of that the machine was given a taller spine and a differently shaped canopy than the single-seat version. The Ukrainian Air Force has operated the Su-27 since the breakup of the Soviet Union, when part of the fleet remained on its territory.

What the sheet covers

The decals are intended for a Ukrainian Su-27UB with the fuselage number 69 in 1:32 scale. The extended edition designation suggests that the scope of the sheet is larger than the basic version; exactly what it holds in addition is given by the manufacturer in the instructions. Go through them before building, so you know which insignia and lettering you will really need on the model and in what order to apply them.

How to apply the decals

• varnish the surface under the decal with a gloss varnish; on a matte surface, silvered edges will appear
• cut the individual motifs out close to the edge of the printed area
• soak the decal briefly in lukewarm water and leave it to rest on the paper until it can be slid
• support it with a brush in place and slide the paper out, without stretching the decal
• draw the excess water off and go over the area with a decal softener, so the motif settles into the engraving
• once dry, go over the whole model with varnish in the degree of sheen the result is to have

Who it is for

It will be appreciated by builders in the large scales who want a particular machine with a documented fuselage number instead of the insignia from the box. In 1:32 scale every piece of lettering is easy to read, so even the small technical markings are worth attention.
