The 1:12 Scythmaster bust belongs to the dark fantasy genre and is ready for a collector to paint to their own taste.
Responsibility details are not available.
The name of the figure refers to the scythe as its attribute and hints straight away at the genre family the piece belongs to. A bust rendering means that the sculptural work has concentrated on the head, the shoulders and the upper chest; that is where everything the finished result is meant to tell the viewer happens.
In this format the painter gets a large area of face as well as of clothing. The folds of the cloth, the strands of hair and the texture of the skin are pronounced enough for a brush to handle them without a magnifier, and yet the piece does not call for the equipment that genuinely large formats demand. For a first member of a bust collection it is a sensibly chosen size.
Dry-fitting the parts before joining them permanently saves a great deal of annoyance: you will see how the surfaces seat and where the gap will need retouching. Lay the primer coat on from two opposite sides, so that it does not collect anywhere in a recess. Leave the metallic highlights until the very end and watch the surroundings while doing them: the pigment of metallic paints runs willingly to places it should not. Before you put the brush down, compare the finished piece with the subject in daylight and in artificial light; the temperature of the lighting can markedly shift the impression of the whole color scheme.
In a display cabinet the piece stands out most against a calm, unobtrusive background.
