A sheet of wet decals from the OWL brand in 1:72 scale for marking the Dornier Do 17 Z-3 bomber with a fuselage code whose first pair corresponds to the KG 76 Geschwader. The Do 17 Z was the last and most numerous production line of the slim twin-engine Dornier with a glazed nose. The set is an accessory and is applied to a finished and painted model of the same type in the same scale.
The fuselage codes on the Do 17 are large and run across engraved lines and across the curvature of the fuselage, so on an imperfect surface the flaws are visible at once. Paint the model, varnish the areas under the decals with a gloss varnish and let them cure. Only then start working with the sheet.
Cut the large letter codes out individually and close to the printing, so no wide border of carrier film is left on the model. After a short soak, let the decal rest on the paper, then slide it into place and adjust it with a brush. Push the water out from the center toward the edges. Over engraved lines and riveted seams, apply a decal softener, with long codes preferably in sections, so you have time to straighten the motif. While drying, the film will wrinkle and draw itself into the engraving, so do not touch it and leave it alone until the next day. Finally, unify everything with a matte varnish.
