A set of wet decals from the OWL brand in 1:72 scale for marking the Messerschmitt Bf 110 G-4, that is, the night fighter version of the twin-engine Bf 110. It differs from the day versions above all in its equipment for operating at night and in a crew with an added operator. The sheet is not a model; it is used on a finished and painted Bf 110 G-4 kit in the same scale.
Night fighters are often built in light gray camouflage with fine mottling, which is easily damaged. Seal the coat of paint with a gloss varnish before the decals, therefore; it will at the same time create a smooth surface and protect the mottling during further work. Let the varnish cure overnight, as haste is paid for with a wrinkled film.
Cut the motif out as close as you can, soak it briefly and let it rest until the film releases. Transfer it to the model with a drop of water, position it with a brush and draw the excess off with a tissue away from the center. The Bf 110 has broken-up engine nacelles and angular transitions, over which water alone will not settle a decal. Use a decal softener, start with the milder one and reach for the stronger one only when the film stands away. While drying the decal will wrinkle; that is normal, just do not interfere with it. Unify the finished surface with a matte or semi-gloss varnish.
