The set belongs to a range in which the brand has covered several forms of this vehicle, from a closed SUV to armed variants.
The FJ43 is the long-wheelbase version of the classic Toyota Land Cruiser off-road vehicle, with a ladder frame and all-wheel drive. Thanks to its simple design and its durability it spread all over the world and in a number of regions it serves outside ordinary civil use as well. The SPG-9 is a 73 mm recoilless gun, originally an infantry weapon carried on a tripod. It is precisely its low weight that allows it to be mounted on light vehicles, so the pairing of vehicle and weapon on this model belongs together logically.
It is sensible to finish and paint the chassis, the axles and the interior of the cab before the body is closed up, because afterwards you will have trouble reaching them. Glue the plastic with a thin plastic cement, which draws itself into the joint by capillary action. Apply a filler primer before painting, as it reveals small scratches left by sanding. A vehicle in field use is helped a great deal by layering: a base shade, a darker wash into the pressings and the panel lines, a dry brush on the edges and finally pigments for dust and mud deposits around the wheel arches and on the chassis. Paint the weapon and its mount separately and fit them only at the end, so that their fine edges are not damaged.
