Dual Exo Set 7, 7A Light Brown and 7B Asteroid Brown

Dual Exo is an acrylic range from the AK interactive brand in which the shades form pairs marked with the letters A and B. Set number 7 brings the pair Light Brown and Asteroid Brown together. Paints of the same names are also made individually, in the acrylic range with a satin finish, so the coat is semi-gloss and looks silky on a model.

Both names point to brown, one explicitly to the lighter version. Brown tones are among the more universal colors in a modeling palette, because they are used for areas as well as a base for shading and weathering, and a pair from the same family saves mixing. A transition between the tones looks better when it is applied thinly and in several steps rather than in one heavy coat. A satin finish is at the same time a good base under decals and stands up to later weathering and a unifying varnish.

Use

• An acrylic paint for plastic, resin and 3D printed parts, preferably on a degreased and primed surface.
• It is applied with a brush as well as an airbrush in several thin coats with a pause to dry.
• The lighter tone for the area, the darker one in the shadows and recesses, or the other way round as intended.
• A pair from the same family makes smooth transitions easier without mixing.
• Shake the bottle well before use, as the pigment sinks to the bottom when standing.

The set suits builders of science fiction and robot kits, figure painters and modelers who need two brown tones together. The shades of the Dual Exo range can be mixed with each other, so the set follows on well from a palette of paints already in progress.
