F-4EJ Kai interior 1:48 (Quinta Studio)

A color 3D-printed set of interior details on decal paper from the manufacturer Quinta Studio in 1:48 scale. The set markedly raises the realism of the cockpit of the Japanese upgraded version of the Phantom II, the F-4EJ Kai. The three-dimensional 3D elements, already finished in color, take over the role of both photo-etch and the decals for the instrument panels and side panels.

What the set contains and what it is for

These are 3D-printed details with color printing on a carrier decal paper, which replace or supplement the instrument panels, the side consoles and other elements of the cockpit. They are not self-adhesive and have no adhesive layer of their own: the part slides off the paper after being soaked in water. The three-dimensional structure gives the instruments and switches real relief.

Use

• it is not an aircraft model, but an accessory for detailing the cockpit
• cut the part from the sheet, soak it for about 15 seconds in lukewarm water and slide it off the paper into place
• it holds on a gloss coat (Future, Klear, Tamiya X-22), and on a broken surface a drop of super glue helps
• do not use a decal softener or a setting solution, as their chemistry attacks the printed resin
