A set of decals for the cockpit of the late version of the AV-8A in 1:48 scale. The color of the instruments, the lettering and the panels is printed from manufacture. It is not a model nor a part of one in plastic, but an accessory applied to the parts from your own kit. It follows the dimensions of the Kinetic kit.

What the set replaces in the cockpit

Plastic kits deal with the instrument panel and the side consoles most often by engraved relief, over which the manufacturer supplies a flat decal, or simply by a bare part to be painted. Both routes have their limits: hand painting dial faces in 1:48 scale is work for a sure hand, and a flat print looks short of depth. This set replaces both — the instruments and the colored areas are finished, and what is left for the modeler is the base coat of the cockpit, the seating and the final unifying of the gloss. That is exactly why it suits builds with the canopy swung open, where you can see into the cockpit.

How to go about it

Paint the cockpit, let the paint cure and brush a gloss varnish over it — without the gloss intermediate step, air is trapped under the decal and the edges go white. Release the elements after about fifteen seconds in lukewarm water, transfer them one by one, adjust the position with a damp brush and blot the excess water from the side. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as their chemicals attack the printed resin and ruin the element. A matte or semi-gloss overcoat at the end.
