This is a colored decal set for the interior of a model of the A-6E Intruder in 1:32 scale in the full version. It is not a kit but an accessory for a plastic model: a print with a three-dimensional effect is applied to finished and painted parts and gives them color and depth that is hard to achieve with a brush. The set is intended for the Trumpeter kit.
The Grumman A-6 Intruder is a twin-engine carrier attack aircraft for all-weather operations. The crew consisted of two people sitting side by side, which is characteristic of this type — the cockpit is therefore wide and a large area of it is visible once the canopy is removed. The E version was the most widespread operational variant of the type.
Everything rests on the base. Overcoat the painted part with gloss varnish and let it dry properly; a matte surface holds air under the decal and the edges then show through with a silvery look. Release the decal after about fifteen seconds in lukewarm water, move it into place, align it and blot up the excess water. Do not use a decal softener or setting solution; their chemicals would damage the printed resin and ruin the element. At the end unify the surface with varnish in whatever degree of sheen the finished interior is to have.
The set replaces the flat kit parts — from smooth or only finely engraved plastic it makes a colored surface that looks three-dimensional. It thereby saves painting the smallest details. Before application, degrease the plastic and sand down any coarse relief so that the decal settles over its whole area.
The set is an accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right. Paints, glue and varnishes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
