The real subject

The Fieseler Fi 156, nicknamed the Storch, is a German liaison and observation aircraft famous for being able to take off and land on a very short strip. What interests a modeler most about it is the cabin: it is glazed right down to the floor and bulged out at the sides, so on a finished model practically the whole interior is visible. On this type you cannot cut corners on the fit-out of the cabin, because there is nowhere to hide it.

What the set contains

The set brings color three-dimensionally printed elements of the cabin equipment, that is the instrument panel, the side panels and further small interior details. The elements have a raised relief, so the bezels of the instruments, the levers and the knobs stand out above the surface and after application they do not look like printed paper. The set is tied to the kit from Hobby Boss, formerly released under the Tristar brand.

How the elements are applied

The elements of the QD range are printed on backing decal paper and are applied like a decal. Cut the part out, dip it for about fifteen seconds in lukewarm water and slide it off the paper into place. It has no adhesive layer of its own, so it holds only on a gloss coat. Do not use a decal softener, as it would attack the printed resin.

Building and painting tips

Before applying, free the surfaces in the cabin of dust and grease, level any unevenness and cover them with a gloss coat. You do not have to paint the elements, but it pays to darken the edges and the gaps around them so that the transition into the surrounding plastic is not visible. Finish the assembly of the cabin before you close the fuselage up.
