Kabuki tape masks in 1:48 for the two-seat F-16 versions in the BASIC scope from New Ware. A pre-cut painting aid for models with the lengthened cockpit, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut masks made from Japanese washi paper tape, known as kabuki, in 1:48 scale. It is intended for models of the two-seat versions of the F-16 Fighting Falcon, that is the versions with a lengthened cockpit for two. The BASIC label expresses the scope of the set, not the quality of the work: it is the smallest of the grades offered, while wider grades cover further surfaces and parts. Check the actual contents against the packaging and the enclosed instructions.
The two-seat version has a markedly longer canopy and different framing from the single-seater, and on some later aircraft a bulky dorsal fairing is added as well. Masks for the single-seat version therefore will not fit the two-seater. A one-piece canopy with no windscreen frame is also a large continuous area where every inaccuracy in the masking is clearly visible.
Before masking, wash the glazing in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap and let it dry in the open; grease from the fingers is the most common cause of poor adhesion. Set the mask with tweezers first time, as repeated repositioning reduces its tack. Before the top shade, spray the edges in the cockpit interior color so that any bleed is invisible, and only then apply the exterior color in two or three thin coats. Take the mask off shortly after drying and seal the remaining sheet in a bag.
The package contains masks only. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
