The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was among the largest single-engine fighters of the Second World War. It was powered by a massive radial engine, which gave the fuselage its stocky shape and earned it a nickname taken from a barrel. It was heavy, tough and carried heavy machine gun armament in the wings, so besides escorting bombers it soon made its name above all as an attack aircraft against ground targets. It is exactly its robust shapes that make it a model which looks good even at larger sizes.
This is a kit assembled without gluing: the parts fit into one another and the joint holds by shape rather than by glue. The model can therefore be built and taken apart again, and any mistake in the sequence is easily put right. The colors are given directly in the material of the parts, so a finished model needs neither spraying nor a brush.
Work through the enclosed instructions step by step and sort the parts by size and color in advance, which will save you most of the time. Press the joints fully home until you feel the part has seated; a part that has not been pushed down tends to be the most common reason why a body does not come together at the end. If a part has to be taken out, press on it evenly and do not lever it, so that the lug does not break. Wipe the finished model with a dry cloth, as wet cleaning does not pay off with parts that come apart.
The kit suits those who want to build a model without tools, without glue and without painting, and collectors who build aircraft of the Second World War from kit parts. Paints and glue are not needed to finish it and are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
