1:144 Antennas C-5B Galaxy is a metal detail set of antennas and sensors from Metallic Details, intended to improve a model of this strategic transport aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a model of an aircraft but a detail accessory. It is a metal set of antennas and external sensors for a model of the C-5B Galaxy transport aircraft in 1:144 scale. It replaces coarsely molded or entirely missing plastic projections with sharp parts that have the right thickness for this small scale, a thickness injection molding cannot achieve.
In 1:144 scale an antenna on a plastic model is usually a few tenths of a millimeter thick, which on the real aircraft would correspond to a paving slab. A metal part is thin, holds its shape and, once painted, reads as a genuinely sharp edge. And antennas and sensors are among the features the eye notices first on a finished model, because they break up a smooth silhouette.
The C-5 Galaxy is an American heavy strategic transport aircraft with a high-set wing, four turbofan engines on pylons and a T-tail. It is loaded from the front through an upward-hinging nose and from the rear, thanks to which it can carry outsize loads. The C-5B version is a later production series of the type.
Separate the parts from the fret on a hard surface with a sharp knife, not by twisting. Pre-drill the holes for seating with a micro drill bit of a diameter matching the pin on the part, as an antenna cannot be glued reliably onto a blind surface. Glue with thin cyanoacrylate applied with the tip of a wire, as a drop from the bottle is too large for this size. Metal has to be degreased and primed before painting, or the paint will hold badly and rub off during handling. Fit the antennas only at the very end of the build, after varnishing and the decals, or you will break them off at every further step.
This is an accessory for building a model, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
