A bicycle in 1:144 scale as an accessory for a diorama. A small thing that gives a scene scale and a human dimension.
Responsibility details are not available.
A diorama in a small scale stands or falls by the small things around the main model. An empty area beside an aircraft looks like an exhibition stand, but it is enough to lean a bicycle against a wall and the scene begins to look inhabited. A bicycle is moreover an accessory that suits practically anywhere: by a hangar, by a station building, in urban surroundings and at a military base.
A real bicycle measures about 1.8 meters in length. In 1:144 scale that comes out at roughly twelve millimeters, that is, an element the size of a little fingernail. Reckon with that in handling it and in choosing its place in a scene: a bicycle will be lost if you lay it in the middle of a large open area, and on the contrary it will stand out by a vertical wall or beside a figure.
Work over a surface and with fine tweezers, so that the part does not spring away from you. The recommended glue and procedure are given by the manufacturer's instructions; with accessories of this size super glue applied with the tip of a toothpick or with a piece of wire proves its worth. Degrease the part before painting, as fingerprints tell at once on such a small area. In 1:144 scale a primer, the color of the frame and a discreet suggestion of the saddle and the tires are enough; it is better only to suggest the fine detail, as overpainting will coarsen the element.
For builders of dioramas and display cases in 1:144 scale who want to bring a scene to life and do not want to make such a detail from wire themselves. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
