A sheet of waterslide decals for 1:144 scale, not a kit. It holds the triangular recognition markings that Dutch military aviation carried at the time when the country declared neutrality, that is before it moved to the ordinary circular roundel. The package holds two identical sets.
The triangular insignia was introduced as an unambiguous symbol, distinguishable at a distance, that was to tell an aircraft apart from the machines of the warring sides. That is exactly why it was applied over large areas and in clearly visible places. For a modeler that has a practical consequence: a geometric shape with straight edges and sharp corners is more demanding to apply than a circle. A circle can be turned slightly and nobody notices; with a triangle you see every degree of rotation at once.
Before you start, determine on the model, with a pencil or by measuring from the rivet lines and the panel lines, the axis the triangle will be aligned to. Prepare the surface with a gloss varnish, so that no air gets under the film. Soak the decal, bring it up to the place and, before you draw the water off, check the rotation from two independent points, best from the leading edge and from some panel line. Only then fix the position and draw the water off from the center outward. Over the curve of the fuselage or over the edge of the wing, help yourself with a softener and light pressure from a damp cotton bud, otherwise a crease will form at the corners. Finally varnish the model, so that the sheen is evened out and the edge of the film disappears.
This is a stand-alone decal sheet, not a kit. The model, paints, varnish and softener are not included in the package.
