Precisely cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the Soviet Il-86 wide-body airliner in 1:144 scale. The masks follow the shape of the cockpit glazing frames, so that after spraying you get clean frames with a sharp edge.
In the small 1:144 scale, painting tiny frames by hand is demanding and unevenness creeps in easily. Using the masks gives repeatably straight edges and raises the overall cleanliness of the finished model of this wide-body aircraft.
Clean and degrease the surface first. Move the masks with tweezers and once they are in place press them down along the edges so that paint cannot creep under them. Apply the paint in thin coats and take the mask off while the coat is fresh.
