A sheet of wet decals in 1:144 scale with British national roundels in the form used on the South East Asian front in the years 1942 to 1946. These are not the ordinary European rendering: in that theater the red center was left out of the roundel so that it could not be mistaken at a distance for the enemy's national insignia. It is precisely this detail that makes the set a product in its own right, which ordinary British sheets cannot replace. The dimensions and the number of pieces are stated on the box.
Aircraft deployed in India, Burma and over the Indian Ocean wore the altered markings for the whole time the fighting lasted in the area, and the difference is immediately noticeable on a model — a blue and white roundel looks different from the three-layer European one. Anyone building a British machine from this theater usually cannot use the insignia from a kit. At the same time the set is not tied to one type of aircraft: in that theater British and American designs alike served in British colors.
The decals are applied by the wet method. The surface beneath has to be smooth and glossy — on matte paint a visible silvery veil will stay under the film. Cut the insignia out as closely as possible, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds, let it rest until the film releases and slide it onto the moistened place. Adjust the position with a brush, draw the excess water off with a cloth and use a softener so that the decal draws down onto the rivets and engraved lines. Once dry, go over the surface with a matte or semi-matte varnish, which hides the edges of the film. In 1:144 scale the insignia are very small, so work with smooth-jawed tweezers and preferably one piece at a time.
