A decal sheet in 1:144 scale devoted to Royal Air Force markings from the period of the Second World War. A small scale makes high demands on decals: the printing has to be crisp and the carrier layer thin, otherwise the elements would not tell on a tiny model. The exact contents of the sheet and the layout of the individual elements follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is not a self-adhesive version. A soaked self-adhesive film is ruined, whereas a waterslide decal that has not been soaked can be soaked later. On an ordinary waterslide sheet, proceed as follows: cut the element out as closely as possible together with the backing paper, soak it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it stand for a moment until it starts to move on the backing. Wet the place on the model, bring the decal up to the target edge first and pull the paper out from under it. Adjust the position with a soft brush and draw the excess water off with a tissue.
Decals hold best on a smooth glossy surface; a matte surface under them will create a white veil. Over rivets and recesses a softener helps, and once dry a coat of varnish goes over the top. In 1:144 scale work with tweezers and with plenty of light, as the elements really are tiny.
The sheet will be used by builders of small aircraft models who want to reach for markings other than those a kit offers.
The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
