An injection-molded plastic kit of the pirate spaceship Arcadia in the version known as the second ship, released in the form based on the Captain Harlock Dimension Voyage treatment. The scale is 1:1500 and the manufacturer is the Japanese company Hasegawa, which offers the ships of this world as a coherent science fiction range. The particular contents of the package, the number of parts and the extent of the decals are stated on the box and in the enclosed instructions.
The Arcadia is the battle spaceship of Captain Harlock from the work of the Japanese author Leiji Matsumoto. She appears in the stories in several forms, and the so-called second ship is one of them, with a characteristic stern, a massive keel under the hull and a skull emblem on the bow. Dimension Voyage is a later treatment of the same subject, which gave the design of the ship a version of its own. It is a fictional vessel, not real equipment.
The model has large smooth areas of hull, so it pays to fill and sand the gaps carefully before you start painting. Use a primer and spray with an airbrush in thin coats, as dark shades otherwise pick out every unevenness easily. Pick out the engraved lines with a capillary paneliner, apply the decals onto a gloss varnish and fix them with a matte one. If you are preparing the model for a stand, check the seating before you close the hull up.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
