An accessory set of miniature imitation armor bolts intended for detailing models of military machinery in 1:16 scale. It is neither a kit nor a model of its own, but a small accessory that replaces simplified or entirely missing fasteners on a model. The English name bullet-proof bolt denotes a bolt with a markedly domed, almost spherical head - a shape used on welded and bolted armor assemblies, because a rounded head stood up to a hit better and was harder to shoot off.
Bolts and rivets are among the details the eye notices on a model before anything else. On plastic moldings they tend to be subdued, on photo-etched parts they are missing entirely, and sanding the seams removes even what was originally there. The set puts such features back in a uniform size and shape, which is crucial in larger scales: in 1:16 a bolt head is already so large that even an inaccuracy shows on it. It will find use on hulls, hatches, hinges, on armor plates and on accessories you build yourself.
It works well to mark out the spacing on the model first, so that a row of bolts sits straight and evenly. Work with fine-tipped tweezers and good light. The finished surfaces are then painted together with the rest of the model, so that the detail does not stand out in a different shade.
