Figures of a German tank crew in 1:16, the first part of a pair. An accessory for large models of armor and for a diorama.
Responsibility details are not available.
German tanks of the Second World War were manned as a rule by a crew of five: the commander, the gunner, the loader, the driver and the radio operator. Each of them had a different place in the vehicle and a different posture, and that is exactly what shows on figures. The commander tends to be shown in the turret hatch, the driver in the hatch at the front, the rest of the crew by the vehicle or at rest. The stance and the turn of the head decide the resulting impression of a scene more than the number of parts.
This is the first part of a pair of figures of a German tank crew in 1:16; the second part is a separate item and the two can be joined into one scene. The scale of 1:16 is common among large tank models, including radio-controlled ones, and a standing figure in it measures around eleven centimeters. Such a figure will carry detail of the face, the folds and the small equipment, so it pays to give time to the head and the hands. It will find its use with a model on a base as well as in a diorama, where a figure gives the vehicle scale and tells the viewer where to look.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remnant down; on figures watch out for the edges of the folds, which are easily wiped away by sanding. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, because paint does not hold on a greasy surface. Choose the glue according to the material stated on the package. Build the face in layers: a base tone, a darker glaze into the eye sockets and under the chin, a lighter tone on the forehead, the nose and the cheekbones.
Figures are supplied. The paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
