Great Other is a plastic kit of a figure in 1:16 scale from the Ukrainian maker ICM. It is neither a model of a vehicle nor an accessory to a diorama, but a collector's figure in its own right to be built and painted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds the parts of a single plastic figure in the large 1:16 scale. The maker is ICM, a Ukrainian brand known for injection-molded models and for an extensive range of figures. The item belongs to its line of fantasy figures, which stand outside historical subjects and aim at modelers who enjoy the painting itself.
The 1:16 scale is among the largest scales of figure commonly built. A figure of human size works out at roughly eleven centimeters in it, so there is room on it for sculptural shading, for the rendering of a face and for fine transitions on cloth and skin. Details that in small scales are only suggested are genuinely painted here. At the same time every inaccuracy is visible, so it pays to devote time to preparing the surface.
Cut the parts off the sprue with nippers and sand the parting lines down with fine paper, so that no trace of them is left under the paint. It is glued with thin cement for plastic. Before painting, spray on a primer, which unifies the surface and reveals the remaining marks. The base is well done with an airbrush, the rendering itself with a brush: acrylics from a wet palette, or oil paints for soft transitions. Paint the eyes and the face while the figure is still in pieces, as they are harder to reach later. Finally unify the surface with a matte or satin varnish and leave the gloss only where it belongs.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
