A two-piece package of running wheels for a large model of the German eight-wheeled car, this time with the second design of the tread. The lower part of the tire is settled and the upper part stays full, so the wheel looks loaded and not as if it were hanging free. A smaller package makes sense wherever you do not want to change the whole set of tires but only to tune part of it.
Allied soldiers met these vehicles in numbers for the first time during the fighting in Normandy, where German reconnaissance detachments made use of the dense network of country lanes between the hedgerows. Later the machines appeared in the Ardennes offensive, when their task was to find passable routes for the advancing armored formations. In the winter of 1944 they carried a white winter coat applied hastily over the factory camouflage, which soon flaked off the sides and the wheels. Traces of such a coat on the disc are a rewarding subject for a model.
A whitewash winter coat held badly on smooth paint and almost not at all on rubber. Apply it to the disc irregularly, therefore, and on the tire leave it only in the hollows of the design, where driving did not wipe it away.
