A pair of wheels with a trodden contact patch for a 1:16 model of the eight-wheeler. 1:16 Sd.Kfz 234 road wheels (2pcs) type 3 (weighted) replaces the wheels from the box and gives the chassis the impression of real weight.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package contains wheels for a large model of the German heavy armored car; the vehicle itself has to be obtained separately. The English word weighted in the name means a wheel with a trodden patch: in its lower part the tire is flattened exactly as the weight of the machine presses it. In 1:16 scale this is precisely the detail that decides whether the finished vehicle looks as if it really stands on its base. The type number refers to a particular tread pattern; several were used on equipment of this kind and they differed according to the tire maker and the period.
The Sd.Kfz. 234 was the peak of the German range of heavy reconnaissance cars. It carried a self-supporting armored tub with no separate frame, it drove and steered all eight wheels and it had two driving positions, with a second driver seated at the rear. After the first shot the crew could therefore pull back out of danger at the same speed at which it had driven in. For reconnaissance, where seconds decide, that was a priceless quality.
Fit the wheels only after a trial assembly of the axles, so that the flattened patches meet the base in parallel; the rotation is easy to adjust while the joint is still soft. The tread will stand out after a dark wash and a pass with a dry brush, and dust applied from the lower edge upwards suits the sidewalls of the tires.
The set is unpainted; neither paints nor glue are in the package.
